Deleted my downloads folder android

I am using the Android app. Whenever I download a file from Canvas onto my phone I can not find it. When I click it I am sent to the downloads folder but it is not there. I'm just slightly bothered knowing there are files taking up space on my phone, and there's no way for me to make sure they are deleted.
